The Main Reasons Why Consumers Unsubscribe From Marketing Emails

Consumers Unsubscribe From Marketing Emails
Business owners and their marketers use their websites to spend a considerable amount of time getting customers to subscribe to their newsletters, latest product information, special offers and other bits of information that may be of use to consumers. There are times when the consumer finds little use for the information that they have subscribed too and decide to unsubscribe.

There are several reasons why people unsubscribe to emails as follows

Didn’t subscribe in the first place

They don’t remember ever signing up for email information in the first place, so believe that whatever they are receiving is unsolicited. Most people resent receiving emails from companies promoting themselves and their products when they don’t believe they ever signed up in the first place.

One company is sending out too many emails

A recent survey revealed that 53 % of consumers stated that emails they received from retailers came too often and cluttered up their inboxes. 44% reported that the retailers got the frequency about right.  Research conducted by Campaign Monitor found that one email a fortnight was sufficient to keep a subscriber engaged.

Subscribers cannot view an email properly

With the rise in mobile friendly devices, promotional emails are not so easy to read as they often contain many images and stylish slogans to attract the subscriber’s attention. A subscriber will soon unsubscribe if your business has failed to get its emails adapted for use on the smaller mobile devices. More than 50 percent of all emails are accessed on mobile devices which do not like too many images, so strip some of the images and make those remaining smaller.

The email is unprofessional in appearance

Your business’s branding and messaging should be clean, up-to-date and attractive and will draw your subscriber’s attention. If there are misspellings or if in another language the translation is not good the appearance of your email will be so unprofessional that no-one would be drawn to your product. Make sure you use reputable document translation services if you are getting your email translated into the languages your subscribers use. Translation Services do vary in quality but if you choose marketing translation services that understand your product and your customer you will be received well by your subscribers.
